About Balloon Nevada (how it is)...
You know, we could play the game that some businesses play - promise you (the consumer) the world in order to get your credit card number. We'd rather be up front about the way we do our business. No surprises, no disappointments.
- We are a small independent hot air balloon ride provider
- We have one very nice, well maintained balloon that comfortably carries the pilot plus three passengers
- We have comfortable late model chase vehicles that will go anywhere we need
- We have a slick trailer to transport the balloon
- We have a very experienced pilot
- We have friendly crew members that don't mind getting up in the morning to go ballooning, and one of them is real cute! :)
- We are happy to share the experience with anyone interested and often fly for fun on our "days off."
Quality vs Quantity
There was a time when most of my flying was done in large balloons with up to a dozen passengers on board. There's nothing wrong with sharing a basket with a dozen or so of your 'new best friends' on a possibly once in a life time experience, just as there's nothing wrong with riding a Greyhound bus across the United States with a fellow named Jake who likes Ripple. But, confine any group of strangers to a small area for any time, and there's a good chance that someone in the group is going to whine about something... "I'm uncomfortable, you're standing on my foot, I can't see over this guys big head" are a few we've heard in the past, and are all legitimate complaints. That whiner may be you after spending an hour in a crowded basket with the Sobotnique family and their eight year old hyper-active twins. Now that'll be fun, won't it?
This aint no Disneyland ride...
The only way for passengers to truly enjoy and appreciate the beauty of
ballooning as I, an "old school" balloonist believes it to be experienced,
is to deliver the experience to small private parties. The
only distractions you'll have during one of our flights are the distractions
you create, like the sound of the shutter on your camera, or the smooch from
your sweetheart as we float around on what ever winds Mother Nature dishes
out that day. That's the beauty of ballooning with us! Oh, and you'll never have
to deal with those Sobotnique kids in our balloon! ![]()
Note: The Sobotnique family is a fictitious name I made up to protect the names of the several families whose names I can't remember, who gave me the opportunity to experience an hour in a balloon basket with their hyper kids. Any resemblance to real families with hyper active kids named Sobotnique is purely a coincidence.
Where we do what we do:
We fly in the Carson Valley which consists of the towns of Minden, Gardnerville, and Genoa. The Carson Valley is located 13 miles east of south Lake Tahoe, 40 miles south of Reno, and 13 miles south of Carson City. If you want to fly in Las Vegas, please don't call us... that's 400+ miles away. [ HERE'S OUR MAP ] We've been ballooning for thirty years, fifteen of those here in the Carson Valley. See our EXPERIENCE page if you'd like more information.
When we do what we do:
Like most other balloon ride companies around the world, our balloon flights take place right after sunrise, or just prior to sunset* when the air is most stable. Like the space shuttle, ALL of our flights are weather dependent for your (and our) safety. High winds, rain / snow and low visibility are the main culprits for canceling flights. There is NEVER any charge to you for weather cancellations, and no obligation to reschedule. We really don't want your money until we've earned it. Please see our FLIGHT INFORMATION page for details.
Our balloon comfortably carries and is insured for the pilot and no more than three passengers*. Weight restrictions apply. Please take a look at our BALLOON RIDE POLICIES page for all the "fine print."
